Hugo den Besten

Hugo den Besten was born in Oss (The Netherlands) in 1995. He finished his BSc (2017) and MSc (2019, cum laude) at the University of Groningen. His MSc project, under the guidance of  Prof. Katalin Barta, was on Functionalization of Lignin. In 2019, he worked as an intern at AkzoNobel, under the supervision of Dr. Jitte Flapper, on novel iron catalysts for alkyd paints. He is a PhD student in the Browne group since 2020,  focusing on styrene-free vinylester ene-monomer curing technology, funded by the Advanced Research Center - Chemical Building Blocks Consortium (see website)
